About us

My name is Clara Simanjuntak. I am a trained architect, and in 2019 I started Nyana Nyana Eco, a fashion brand based in Singapore that makes clothing and accessories using traditional textile techniques (including hand-drawn batik, ecoprint, and tie-dye), natural plant-based dyes, and pre-consumer textile waste.
The pieces are designed in Singapore and made with women artisans, natural dye crafters, and home-based seamstresses across Java, Sulawesi, Bukittinggi, and Bali. Each artisan brings their own tradition, their place, and their craft into the fabric.
What I design from that is everyday clothing for Singapore, pieces you wear to work, to a Saturday market, to no particular occasion at all. Not ceremonial, not a souvenir, just well-made things with a real origin that happen to look nothing like what everyone else is wearing.
The Collective
Nyana Nyana Eco Collective is the multi-brand store we run alongside the fashion label, at Claymore Connect on Orchard Road. It hosts local and regional designers, runs pop-ups and workshops, and gives emerging sustainable brands a place to sell and be seen. The brands we house are mostly women-led and independently run, and the space is designed so each one has room to exist on its own terms.
What we use
60 to 80 percent of our fabric is pre-consumer textile waste, deadstock and end-of-roll remnants sourced from Indonesia-based mills, saved from landfill and given a second use. Where we source new fabric, we use materials certified to GOTS or Oeko-Tex standards. We do not use virgin synthetic fabric.
We are a certified social enterprise with raiSE and a recognised Company of Good (COG) recipient.
